How to book a good wedding DJ
Wedding Last week, I got chatting to a old Keswick school friend who had recently re-married in Derbyshire.
The conversation was about her wedding, and loooking back at which suppliers she would have changed with hindsight. All of which I found refreshing.
“Firstly” she said, “I remember receiving a ‘save the date’ invitation for a friends wedding at Lodore Falls Hotel in 2014, and we kept the whole day free. However, when the invitation arrived we realised we had only been invited to the evening and not the full day.
This highlighted the importance for us to let our guests know in advance of what they were invited to (all day or just the evening.)”
Children at weddings
She continued, “Another thing was keeping the children at your wedding happy. We made sure that the parents were asked in advance if they needed high chairs, if their child liked the food menu we had chosen for them, and if they had allergies, etc.
We also had older boys who were aged between 8-11 years old – given a ‘mini adult meal’ rather than a ‘children’s meal’. It might sound silly, but it meant minimal moaning of why they were classed as a ‘baby’ having a childs meal.”
Wedding suppliers
We then chatted about her wedding suppliers. She said, “We had a rule of, ‘If we like them we would go with them’ and a friend had also said, if you like the product they offer and the price is right then just book it otherwise you will always be comparing for months and end up wasting your own time.”
We went with the hotel DJ and cake company. Sadly, the DJ struggled with our playlist. Our guests requested some Hip-Hop and R’n’B, and although he was a nice enough man and easy to talk with, he seemed out of his depth, and inexperienced.
If it was possible to do the whole wedding again, I would certainly meet-up with some suppliers.
We spent just over six thousand, and saving ‘£30 here or £50 there’ just wasn’t worth it.”
I then asked about her music.
This is the music from their evening playlist.
